Teaching and study environment New Zealand
The style of teaching and learning in New Zealand may be quite different to what you are familiar with.
The biggest difference is that New Zealand has an independent learning environment. You are expected to take full responsibility for ensuring you attend classes, keep up with your studies, do your homework, and complete course requirements.
At first the amount of work required and the level of responsibility may be overwhelming. It is important that you organise yourself well and give yourself time to adapt to the new learning environment.
Although it is an independent learning environment, you are still encouraged to ask questions and to seek help from your teachers and lecturers.
If you need assistance, it is important not to shy away from seeking support or clarification from your tutors or lecturers. It is also perfectly fine to study in groups, as long as the independent work that you submit for assessment is your own.
Teachers and lecturers want to ensure that you understand what you are writing and that you can apply the knowledge you have learned. Plagiarism (copying other people’s answers or copying from a textbook without referencing your source) is unacceptable in New Zealand and is treated very seriously by schools and tertiary institutes.
In New Zealand classes and tutorials, students are expected to participate in their learning. You may be expected to ask and answer questions about the course material and contribute ideas to discussions.
Teachers and lecturers don’t ask many "right/wrong" or "yes/no" questions. The focus is more likely to be on understanding the course material rather than memorising it. kalau SMA nya masuk jurusan IB diploma gimana? apa bisa ikut yang lulus kelas 2 langsung foundation?
Untuk anak - anak yang punya ijasah IB diploma, untuk melanjutkan ke Australia, setiap siswa dapat langung masuk ke universitas tanpa melalui Foundation tetapi ASALKAN nilai yang diminta oleh universitas itu dapat terpenuhi.
Foundation biasanya lebih dikhususkan untuk siswa yang belajar di Sekolah Menengah Umum. Atau siswa yang lulus dengan O level certificate

Belajar ke Australia
Untuk belajar di Australia, bisa dilakukan apabila siswa sudah lulus kelas 2 SMU. Siswa dapat melanjutkan ke foundation studies (ada yang 7 bulan, 8 bulan, 10 bulan bahkan 12 bulan) tergantung dari program yang ditawarkan oleh universitas tersebut.
Setelah menyelesaikan foundation, siswa dapat langsung masuk ke universitas untuk mendapatkan bachelor degree atau S1
Sedangkan bagi siswa yang lulus SMU kelas 3 itu untuk saat ini memang seluruh universitas di Australia mengharuskan siswanya memasuki foundation terlebih dahulu daripada langsung masuk ke Bachelor degree. Ini dianjurkan untuk memberikan pondasi yang lebih kuat kepada siswa sebelum memasuki dunia perkuliahan yang sebenernya. Perpindahan sistem pendidikan dari indonesia dan Australia sering mengakibatkan siswa mengalami "culture shock" dan siswa menjadi depresi. Oleh karena itu dengan adanya jalur foundation studies ini sangat membantu siswa untuk beradaptasi sebelum memasuki perkuliahan yang sebenernya.
Di bebebrapa universitas ada juga ditawarkan diploma bagi siswa yang sudah lulus SMU kelas 3. Ini memudahkan dan memberi kesempatan mereka untuk menempuh pendidikan lebih cepat dibandingkan kalau harus menempuh foundation studies

Interior Design
Raffles itu punya beberapa kampus di beberapa negara dan itu menambah nilai tambah buat student yang belajar di Raffles karena Raffles itu setau aku selalu mengembangkan kerja sama dengan industri sekitar. Ya misalnya Raffles China ya berusaha menjalin kerja sama dengan industri2 yang ada di China begitu pula dengan Singapore, Sydney dan tempat lainnya. Malah lulusan Raffles di Singapore diminati loh di Singapore.
Untuk jurusan interior design, Raffles itu memberikan kesempatan kepada student untuk belajar mengenai hotel design dari design consultancy firm yang terkenal yg masuk ke dalam DWP (Design Worldwide Partnership) Architects. Ya kalau dilihat dari pengalamannya DWP sudah membuat design hotel, club, restaurant di Asia, India dan Arab
Selain itu, sewaktu kamu kuliah di Raffles kan kamu harus melakukan magang atau internship nah ini juga kesempatan bagus buat seluruh siswa mendapatkan jalan dalam mencari kerja ketika sudah lulus. Banyak juga loh perusahaan yang suka dan kemudian langsung deh dikasih kesempatan bekerja setelah lulus dari Raffles :)
Nah satu hal lagi yang aku tahu mengenai Raffles, RAffles itu punya RAffles Centre for Professional Development (Raffles CPD). Ini berguna untuk membantu student dalam mencari pekerjaan... memudahkan student untuk mendapatkan tempat di dunia kerja :)
Jadi di Raffles CPD itu siswa bisa diurusin untuk penepatan pada saat magang, terus pada saat membuat project di suatu perusahaan, penepatan kerja setelah siswa lulus, konsultasi karier, kemudian memberikan informasi kalau ada acara kompetisi design dan sebagainya.
Langkah ini juga bisa dicoba yaitu dengan melalui jaringan dosen2 ya kan dosen2 di Raffles itu dari berbagai negara, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, France dll nah pasti kan knowledge mereka juga beragam dan jaringan mereka juga luas ... Dengan kamu aktif dan dekat dengan dosen itu akan memberikan kesempatan kamu untuk berkembang
Sebenernya mudah atau susahnya seseorang untuk mendapat pekerjaan itu tergantung dari orang itu sendiri hanya saja RAffles mebantu dan meberikan fasilitas yang dapat mebuat kamu mudah untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan di berbagai negara. Jadi prestasi kamu juga harus terus dipertahankan bahkan harus ditingakatkan. Apakah perbedaan Master by Coursework dan Master by Research?
Perbedaan mendasar terletak pada komposisi riset antara keduanya.
Dalam program Master by Coursework, siswa tidak perlu membuat
skripsi/riset. Untuk mendapatkan gelar Master, siswa harus lulus tiap mata
kuliah. Setiap mata kuliah biasanya terdiri dari ujian tengah semester, ujian
akhir semester, tugas essay perorangan, dan tugas essay grup.
Komponenterbesar dalam program Master by Research adalah skripsi/riset. Biasanya,
komposisi program ini adalah 80% skripsi/riset dan 20% kelas. Diperlukan
proposal riset untuk mendaftar program Master by Research.

Foundation dan diploma
Khususnya di Australia, murid bisa saja kurang kualifikasinya untuk langsung meneruskan ke universitas, biasanya dengan alasan tes bahasa inggris yang tidak mencukupi atau nilai rata - rata yang tidak memenuhi standar. Tetapi jangan takut, karena Pemerintah Australia menanggapi dengan baik dengan membuat Australian Qualification framework jadi maksudnya bila ada murid SmU kelas 3 yang ingin masuk ke universitas tetapi prasyaratnya belum memenuhi, maka murid tersebut dapat tetap masuk dengan melalui jenjang FOUNDATION atau DIPLOMA
FOUNDATION
Ada program studi dasar atau sering disebut pra universitas yang sering disebut FOUNDATION STUDIES.

Biasanya yang mengikuti program ini adalah siswa SMU kelas 2 atau kelas 3, O level yang ingin melanjutkan ke universitas tetapi belum memenuhi persyaratan.
Dari jenjang Foundation ini, murid tidak diharuskan masuk ke universitas yang sama dengan universiras yang menyelenggarakan foundation. Bahkan keuntungannya siswa bisa apply ke seluruh universitas yang ada di Australia karena satu dengan lainnya memang sudah terdaftar di pemerintah Australia, asyik kan? jadi tidak perlu repot. Hanya saja yang membedakan adalah kalau di universitas yang sama dengan penyelenggara foundation, siswa bisa masuk dengan syarat nilai yang lebih mudah dibandingkan di universitas lainnya. DIPLOMA
Kalau diploma adalah jenjang yang lebih tinggi dari Foundation. Prasyarat untuk masuk juga lebih tinggi tetapi masih lebih rendah dibandingkan langsung masuk ke universitas. DIPLOMA biasanya lebih ke arah praktek (practical) so buat siswa yang hanya menempuh diploma juga tidak perlu khawatir karena juga pasti akan siap bekerja. Untuk siswa yang ingin terus melanjutkan bachelor atau S1 juga mudah karena hanya perlu 2 tahun saja setelah diploma dan siswa akan mendapatkan gelar s1
